So George W. Bush eavesdropped on, and even detained American citizens suspected of involvement in terrorist organizations, but Obama has just said "fuck it let's just whack 'em." Keith Olbermann, himself no friend to liberty, nevertheless had some idea of the magnitude of this outrage.
Nobody who has been paying attention, however, ought to be surprised. The power to command others to summarily murder another man - an American citizen supposedly entitled to the protection of the Constitution - on mere suspicion alone is something Obama simply assumes he is entitled to, which of course puts him in famous company.
Anwar al-Awlaki? To hell with him, but the President of the United States really ought not to have any business making that call on his own. Obama is like Otto von Bismarck; a dictator in constitutional disguise, except without the constitutional disguise.
