Noteworthy fact: contrary to the wikipedia entry, Sun Moon Lake is not at all "the largest body of water in Taiwan". Tseng-wen reservoir in Chiayi is actually almost twice as large as Sun Moon Lake, whilst several other reservoirs in Taiwan are, in one way or another, either as large as, or larger than Sun Moon Lake. I think what feeds this mistaken impression is the fact that almost all of the lake's surface area is visible to the public from several vantage points. Given that similar vantage points are inaccessible to the public at Tseng-wen, Feitsui, Shihmen and Wushantou reservoirs, a commensurate appreciation of their size is not possible without the aid of aerial photography.
