Western Defiance In Taiwan?

"...applying maximum disclipline and violence at the point of engagement in order to annihilate, not merely defeat, an opponent."
I borrow quotations from wherever; the only thing that matters is content - this one is from a reviewer on Amazon - William Holmes - of Victor Davis Hanson's book "Carnage & Culture". This is the thesis that the superiority of Western cultures is reflected in (note for morons: not constituted by) our general superiority at organized killing and, to that end, our general superiority at organized defiance.

This is why the recent public demonstrations in Taipei for reform of the military must push further; now is the time to demand an immediate end to conscription. No ifs, no buts and no other piddling apologetic bullshit. There must be consequences, right now - collective refusal of young men to serve. It has to change, and it has to be pushed all the way right over the edge.

Now.

The same goes with the Land Expropriation Act; it has to go too. I cannot regard the calls of people such as Professor Hsu Shih-jung (徐世榮), and the other people of the Taiwan Rural Front, in anything other than piss-boiling contempt. If the journalists don't like that, then to hell with them. The Land Theft Act must be repealed, and there is no time like right now whilst the current intensity of public pressure can be brought to bear.

Now.
