I suspect this bird is a
sharp-tailed sandpiper, but I could be wrong. I'm not sure on the Chinese, but "sandpiper" is "
鷸" ("yu", second tone) according to my dictionary. I took this picture in Tainan's Beimen (
北門) district a couple of weeks ago, along with many other bird pictures some of which I might put up later this week to keep the blog ticking over while I work. Spending time trying to shoot the birds and other wildlife with the 250mm chills me out - I just forget everything else for an hour or so.
