What I would ask, however, would be whether his awareness extended to the historical significance of the date on which that piece was published.

I swear these AGW guys are their own worst nightmares. I can't think of a worst way to sell it. It's very illuminating when you can get the to drop their guard and say what they really want. Turton mocked me for saying following the AGW advice would lead to subsistence farming serfdom controlled by a powerful elite, then outlines a plan that would lead to such a thing.
