Beth Haynes Against The ACA

Since its inception, Beth has been arguing cogently against the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act passed by the previous U.S. Congress and signed into law by President Obama. She does so again superbly in this one minute video. If you are interested in the question of how healthcare ought to be structured and funded, please consider her archive of posts on the PPACA here, and her archive on matters relating to healthcare more generally here.

  1. I was in the States Aug.-Sept. of 2009. I was struck by the number of people--even a couple of family members--who said they could foresee another Civil War in the United States. Although I wouldn't go so far as to say that, I would say that the growing tension will continue and explode--somehow, some way. It is a sad thing. I fear the experiment is failing. Perhaps it has already failed. I'm getting closer and closer to reaching the latter conclusion every day.

  2. Nathan, it already is a "civil" war and has been since the inception of the U.S. post-1776; that's what democratic politics allows us to forget. But you're right that the pressure has been rising in recent years. I'd recommend Victor Davis Hanson's "Carnage & Culture", but I know you have a lot of reading already.

--You have recommended it (you just did); yes I already have a lot of reading; but I will write it down and see if I can squeeze it in. :o)
